The piece

Knife No. 14, the EDC Talon, is a compact fixed blade built around control, portability, and a design that stands apart from a traditional belt knife.

The 3½-inch blade is made from 1084 high-carbon steel, with a sweeping profile that provides plenty of usable cutting edge in a small package. A pronounced finger guard helps index the hand and separates the cutting edge from the grip, while the integrated ring at the rear gives the Talon its distinctive silhouette and provides another point of retention.

The handle is fitted with stabilized koa wood, bringing rich natural figure and movement to an otherwise aggressive, modern design. The warm tones of the koa contrast with the polished steel and exposed full tang, making the handle as much a visual feature as a functional one.

At 7⅝ inches overall, the Talon was designed to deliver full-hand control without the bulk of a larger fixed blade. It's an example of experimenting beyond traditional hunting and field-knife profiles while still keeping the fundamentals of a handmade working knife at the center of the design.

Completed on September 21, 2026, the EDC Talon became Knife No. 14 from Stigall Bladeworks.

1084. Stabilized Koa. Compact by design and unmistakably handmade.
