Get a quote on one like thisKnife No. 4 is the Recurve Bowie, one of the earliest large-format knives to come out of the Stigall Bladeworks shop and a major step up in scale from the blades that preceded it.
Built from 1084 high-carbon steel, the knife features a substantial 10-inch blade with a dramatic recurve and upswept point. The flowing profile gives the Bowie an unmistakable presence, while the sculpted plunge and ricasso add definition to the transition between blade and handle.
A brass guard separates the blade from a hand-shaped desert ironwood handle, secured with brass pins. The rich, natural grain of the ironwood and warm brass provide a traditional contrast to the broad satin-finished blade, giving the knife the character of a classic Bowie without simply copying one.
At 14⅝ inches overall, this was an ambitious build for what was only the fourth knife from the shop. Its size, recurved geometry, fitted guard, and handle construction pushed the work into new territory and represented another significant step in developing the skills and style behind Stigall Bladeworks.
Completed on August 1, 2026, the Recurve Bowie became Knife No. 4.
Fourteen inches of 1084, desert ironwood, and brass—an early build that proved it was time to start thinking bigger.
